Croatia extends from the furthest eastern edges of the Alps in the north-west to the Pannonian lowlands and the banks of the Danube in the east; its central region is covered by the Dinara mountain range, and its southern parts extend to the coast of the Adriatic Sea. The Adriatic Coast boasts a typical Mediterranean climate with hot dry summers and mild winters. It is one of the sunniest and warmest coasts in Europe with an average of 2,600 hours of sunshine per year and an average summer temperature of 27°C. This is a unique area in Europe for cruising with motor boats, speedboats, or sailboats, but also for enjoying the underwater world. The inland part is marked by continental climate with warm summers and rainy and snowy winters. Thanks to the favourable geographical characteristics of Croatian coast, with its numerous bays, inlets and coves, the coastal belt has ever been a significant mercantile and nautical route. Croatia is becoming more and more popular as a holiday destination.
